Human experience is not continuous. We are constantly being interrupted by our own performances, mediated through the production of visual narcism of looking back at recording of our recent selves. This installation stages the moment of production and leaves the viewer perpetually reacting and performing for their future selves, elecronically – mediated nostalgia is revealed as an inescapable feedback loop. I like that this piece does not exist independently of a human viewer, it needs a viewer-performer to function, which radically articulates the role of the viewer/performer in art in general.
