Del Andamio honors my relationship with my brother andour latinx working class heritage, by melding handmadeadobe bricks and commercial-grade steel together. Mybrother spent most of his life building scaffolding forlarge commercial properties. His body raised thesebuildings, as many POC bodies have, while goingunnoticed and under appreciated by our greater society.
These shape shifting building materials, simultaneously support each other while giving tribute to collective labor, sibling love, and forgotten stories of ancient indigenous structures. Symbols of Costa Rican mythology convert the scaffold into an alter.
